Fall 2020 | The next step on our learning journey is a deeper dive into what it means to really serve and lead. Needing lots of help, I am starting Four Simple Words Dialogues to have 1:1 conversations with leaders about the word ‘serving’ and how it relates to their work and world. These 60 minute dialogues will be free-flowing Zoom sessions where I get to have deep and meaningful conversations with really smart people. #LuckyMe
Here’s the fun part (I hope): I’m only picking half of our focus! I’m interested in exploring what it means to be in service to others. I’d love our Dialogue guest to choose the context of our conversation with a topic/issue that is meaningful and important to them. What does that look like? Anything you want, including but in no way limited to:
- Serving community through (or in spite of) politics
- The impact of climate change on how we serve at-risk communities
- Serving those who we really (REALLY) disagree with
- COVID and its impact on customer service
- The personal costs of serving others
- How servant leadership might actually support systemic racism
Let’s not shy away from hard conversations. The goal here is to learn and grow our collective insights on the power and impact of serving others.
Interested? Click this link to book a time and confirm our dialogue topic. You will get a notice to carve that time out in our calendars. On that special day, we will Zoom and I’ll record our chat as we talk and learn together. When we are done I’ll write a blog post about our reflections that we can share with our respective networks. And, depending on how adventurous the Four Simple Words team is feeling (read: how quickly I can learn editing software) I might even launch a Four Simple Words Podcast with a few of these conversations as starters.
We are on a journey to rebrand and reframe Servant Leadership. I hope you will add your voice to our efforts to change how we think about leading teams, communities and organizations.
